The ANUCA 2015 Award winner of Student Blogger of the year, Joy Akosa tie the Knot with her lover and manger DJ Lloyd Eghebi last weekend.

These love birds who met 2 years ago in Ikeja Lagos axis had their traditional marriage in the bride's home town in Okija Anambra State.

The couple disclosed to Comedy+ Magazine that their white wedding is coming up soon.

World Famous SHANG FORBES

If you've been following up on daily gist of american comedians, then this Famecast Comedy Winner, Shang Forbes will not be strange to you.

Shang, born on the 8th of January 1980 is a transplanted New Yorker whose carefully nurtured evolution from stand- up comedy to socio-political satire gives heavy flight to the spoken and outspoken word.

Academically, Shang earned a Bachelor of Science in Business at the University of California, Berkeley from 1998–2002

This aspiring illustrator began his comedy career on a dare which gave him an edge and brought him to lime light. A friend bet him $50 to take the stage during open-mike night at a local comedy club. Shang Forbes won the bet, caught the comedy bug & quickly became an underground favorite with his dark, avant-garde, socio-political style.

Shang Forbes in no doubt has gained and cemented his position as one of the brightest African-American funnymen in the comedy business. His passionate & explosive humor has been showcased on "Politically Incorrect,” "NBC’s Comedy Showcase," Comedy Central's “Comedy Cabaña" & was also selected as one of the "Best of the Fest" on HBO's Aspen Comedy Festival Special. In addition, Shang Forbes has displayed impressive comedic acting ability as a series regular on the late-night laughfest "The Newz," & has guest starred on episodes of "The Jamie Foxx Show" "The Parenthood," & was co-host on "Russell Simmons One-World Music Beat." Most recently, Shang Forbes worked on a panel with MTV’s “Choose or Lose” & also is a regular commentator on Air America Radio’s “Unfiltered”.

He was a featured performer in 2007 at Montreal Comedy Festival. On January 28, 2011, Comedy Central Presents aired his first thirty-minute special broadcast on national television. In January 2011, he won top honors at NBC Universal's Seventh Annual "Stand Up for Diversity" comedy search, including a one-year talent holding deal with that studio.

Shang has also appeared on Comedians of Comedy, American Eagle's Campus Comedy Challenge, and Comedy Central's Live at Gotham.

Shang Forbes' first major debut CD entitled "SHANGRY!!” on Uproar Records was released in all major music stores to rave review.

Here are two out of Naija On Air Personalities whose names rings across the nation and globally.

YAW
Steve Onu, known as Yaw is known for his pidgin comics. He is an actor, comedian, an all round entertainer and an on-air-personlity on WAZOBIA FM 95.1.

Yaw is a graduate of the Lagos State University with a diploma in Radio, TV, and film production from the English department and a degree in Theatre Arts.

He has participated in over fifty stage productions both in Nigeria and the United Kingdom, and has had the opportunity of working with prominent directors such as Ahmed Yerima, Binda Ngazolo, Dr. Sola Fosudo and Ben Tomoloju.

Onu, has won seven awards as the best on air personality since he joined in 2007.

Just recently he was opportuned to make an appearance on CNN. where he was interviewed on his life, work and role in the developing entertainment industry in Nigeria.

FREEZE
Ifedayo Olarinde, popularly known as freeze is a classic and sophisticated on air personality. He is currently the host of the Road show Cool FM’s evening Drive Show which holds between 4pm and 9pm.

Freeze is an indigene of Osun State, though not full blooded Nigerian. On his mother’s side, he hails from Transylvania, Romania.
As his biography reveals, he was not born in Nigeria but he spent most of his growing years in Ibadan Nigeria, attended the Prestigious institution, University of Ibadan where he graduated after earning a degree in Sociology.

Talking about his career in broadcast, he has been a broadcaster for over 15 years. When he was asked about his career as a broadcaster, he once said “It’s not a job anymore, it’s a way of life. Put a microphone in front of me and I’ll start talking. Broadcasting is what I do.”

Ifedayo Olarinde, started off with a brief three month stint with Radio Galaxia, Romania while on holiday there in 1996, after which he returned to Nigeria, went for an audition and got a job with BCOS Ibadan where he worked for 5years.

Freeze joined the Cool family in 2001 as a broadcaster and production officer.

Rising Star: ZIZU

Olamide Aremu Azeez popularly known with stage name Zizu, is one among Naija upcoming artist whose hard work speaks for. Olamide discovered his talent in music when he was in college and released his first official single titled “Baby" on 15th of January 2013; a song which he later shot a video for on 23rd of October 2014. Within that same year, he delivered a club banger titled "Emergency" which was produced by Tony Y.  After a month Emergency became the number 1 trending topic in Nigeria.

Zizu spreads his tentacles and performed at the Nigeria Broadcasters Award which was held at the Oriental hotel Lekki. He has also been on different platform such as; Bash goes to school, Coke Studio Africa, Lagos Gubernatorial debate and more where he performed alongside with some top Naija artist.

Recently, he spoke to Comedy+ Magazine on his journey so far, his songs, style of music and others.

What has been your journey so far as an up coming music artist?

Well it's not been easy though but, I'm positive and always keep my head down

Your song "baby" was was released in 2013 and the video was shot in 2014, how can you rate it in the market?

The video was shot by FishFilmz in Lagos and it has about two thousand viewers on Youtube. It was my first official video and I acted well but after it was commented on, and all of that, I knew I had to improve in some areas which I did. It is imperative I don't intend to repeat same mistakes in my next video which is set to be unleashed later this year. All the same,  it was a job well done from an upcoming artist  like me.

How can you describe your style of music?

I'm a storyteller, my style is Hip Pop and RnB and my music cuts across many genres. Every song is a story or a poem told through music. 

The music industry is saturated; do you see your self becoming successful there?

I’m 100% sure of my success. I believe in my shine and I believe God will do it very soon. I'm always positive and I'm putting God first

How do you intend to cope with the competition?

Sure, I'll cope. I'm a human being like others and I believe what made them cope will surely help me too

Do you write your song yourself or you engage the services of song writers?

I'm still upcoming so you don't expect me to buy songs. I write my songs myself and I don't think I'll ever engage in such act

Who are the Naija artist that inspires you?

2baba particularly, he's a legend and the greatest icon in the industry. Everybody wants to be like him. Wizkid is also an unfussy gem in the industry and he inspires me whenever I listen to his songs. Davido and OritseFemi also inspire me.

So which of them would you love to work with?

Wizkid

How do you get sponsor, or do you have a manager?

My brother is my manager, no sponsor for now and I'm not under any brand at the moment

How would you access Naija music indusry?

The industry is an entire world on its own, and I really have to commend our artistes for the hard work they’re putting in. The industry wasn't like this before but after people like 2baba came into limelight, everything changed.

So what should we expect from you in years to come?

Well,   I just finished working on my third production CD, "Gimmedat". I have some shows coming up and all that, so I'll say the industry should watch out for an act called “Zizu”. I'm looking forward to the street response on my new JAM which is set to be unleashed next week. I'm already known in some areas so I'm not new to the street, when I dropped my last single titled “Emergency” I got some nice turn up and it made waves around the country. So I got a lot of fans out there who are really looking forward to another nice JAM from me and it is imperative I don't disappoint them

Making Waves: Adekunle GOLD

One of Nigerian artist who is currently making waves in Nigerian Music Industry is Adekunle Kosoko popularly known by his stage name 'Adekunle Gold'; a name he coined based on his orientation  “you can’t substitute brass for gold” - an orientation he got from a preacher’s sermon. He is a Lagos based Nigerian artist who is known for music and his amazing Photoshop skills across social media. His vocal prowess and uniqueness is unmatched. He studied Arts and industrial Designs at Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH) where he graduated in 2009.

Adekunle’s musical career started officially as far back as 2009 when he joined a band “The Bridge”. A band that released a lot of songs including 'Norm Breaker' featuring Skales, 'Make It Happen' featuring Gt The GuitarMan and 'All of Me' which is a cover. According to Adekunle, The band didn’t work out as they thought it would, “it is usually not easy to get signed on with a label as a solo artiste, let alone a band”.  So the both decided to go solo and see how things would turn out. 

Adekunle GOLD came into the Nigerian music limelight in 2014 when he released  his life love story song, “SADE", a song  that went majorly on top Nigerian music chat, became majorly every Naija radio favourites, won him a lot of fans (mostly Females), and a record deal with Olamide’s YBNL. Not up to a year after the release of SADE, This Naija  R'n'B singer is back with another well crafted tune, 'Orente', (a name gotten from Adekunle’s grand mother) a song which is currently  making waves and cementing  his place in the Nigerian music scene. Orente which was produced by Oscar, has prolific guitarist Fiokee on the strings, was arranged and mixed by Simi is already gathering rave reviews and is seen by music buffs as a song created solely to serenade and steal hearts away.

Naija Outstanding Comedienne: Helen Paul

Who says men alone are entitled to be comedians and get paid hugely for it? Just like we ladies always say, “What a man can do, a woman can do better”, that  has become a reality in Naija entertainment industry as Female folks embrace comedy business. Meet one of Naija sophisticated, rib cracker and top female presenter and comedienne, Helen Paul Bamisile. Helen Paul Bamisile popularly known as Tatafo is a comedienne, singer and actress from Nigeria. She is a graduate of Theater Arts of the University of Lagos. She is best known for stand-up comedian and has created a unique brand for herself through her voice flexibility and small stature that enable her to perfectly fit into a baby role (even in films).
She has worked as a freelance and full-time presenter at several media houses, both in Nigeria and otherwise; which  include Lagos Television (LTV 8), Continental Broadcasting Service (CBS), MNet (as a co-presenter on Africa Magic Channel 114's "JARA"), amongst others.

Helen broke out as a naughty comic character on a critically acclaimed radio program known as “Wetin Dey” on Radio Continental, 102.3FM, Lagos. Helen's journey into the Entertainment industry started when she worked at Eko Reelmix Studios, Radio Lagos/Eko FM as a front desk manager whilst doubling as a back-up and voiceover artiste. Meet with one of Naija Music Rising Star, Moses Jackson fondly called by his stage name, EMJAY. This  Lagos based upcoming artist Emjay, discovered his musical call at the age of 15, and he has not  relented ever since. He has been up and doing with the assurance that someday luck will shine on him and his voice will be heard globally. When did you discover music to be part of you?
Since when I was  fifteen years old, but I did my first  song at sixteen.  I thought  of being  a music producer before I finally realize music is a part of me. I'm still a producer, though not a professional for now. Let's say 2 years from now,  I'll produce nicely. I do afro hip pop and dance hall.
 Any Album yet?
Not yet, but I'm working on that.  I have a  couple of tracks yet to be out, I have a song  'Korodom', which is currently aired on radio stations like; Splash Fm, Unilag FM and others. will be dropping  'Kulu temper' by Friday (21-08-15) by God's grace. thats just the two singles I have for now .
As an up coming artist, what challenges are you facing?
The challenge is the same with what every other upcoming artist faces, which are financial challenges. Upcoming artiste this days don't get good sponsors

What's your view about Naija music Industry?
There's no music industry in Nigeria. Everyone is just  getting shows and being  paid. But, it's temporary .

Whose style of music would you prefer if you are ask to choose?
People like Wande coal and 2face Idibia

What should we expect from you before the year runs out?
Will Drop couple of songs, probably will be dropping one this week. But before the  year runs out I'll drop more and more videos coming by God's grace.

Where do you see yourself in years to come?
The sky is my limit, An international brand, recording artiste and a producer.

The Act of SERVICE

In life, the key to lasting fulfilment in relationships (such as marriage, business, social and religious) is one based on service to others and less on what we can get. Since we often cannot control the other party, we may become disappointed when they fall short of our expectations. However, when we focus on what we can give or how we can be of assistance, it usually triggers god will in others and even where they are unable to measure up, we can be assured that nature will honour our labour of love. Every story of greatness is a story of selfless service for the betterment of other people and the society because in selfless service lies uncommon greatness.
The following are ways you can ve of service be of service to other people around you:
Have the heart to be of assistance and add value to people around you.
Always ask people (colleagues, boss, team mates) what you can do to help and make their burden lighter
Conduct a regular self appraisal (ask yourself 'who have I assisted?')
Use words of affirmation and encouragement to your colleagues, boss, team mated and subordinates
Be a good steward and contribute positively that people may feel your absence when you're not around.
Always look for opportunities to serve and give back to the people around you.

The act of selfless service is the first step towards achieving greatness in life. Don't always think of what you can get from people, ways think of how you can assist people to achieve their goals and make life easier for them. Consider this:

Ali Baba

Ali Baba  has been a professional stand up comedian for the past 22 years and has in the last 13 years received several awards .
He is a serious  businessman and has  acquired a home  worth of  over N300 million in Lekky . He can be referred  to as the most influential Nigerian Comedian as he is fondly called 'the ancestor of comedy' because of the huge influence he has had in the life of comedians and the comedy industry as a whole.  His appearance fee stands between N4 to N5 million per event. 

JULIUS AGWU

Julius Agwu, born in April 1973  to Chief Auguestine Amadi Agwu and Mary Agwu in Port- Harcourt, Nigeria is one of Nigeria top comedian, an actor and a musician.

Francis Agoda

Francis Agoda also known as 'I Go Dye' was born in April 4th 1979. He is a Nigerian comedian from Delta State, Nigeria who has organized different shows, such as "Igodye Standing", across the globe

His creative abilities manifested  back in the days, when he invented a flying helicopter, a hover craft ship, a radio transmitter and a battery table fan, which earned him a scholarship to study structural engineering at university in New York. An offer which he declined. 

I Go Dye’s career as a comedian  began in 1991, when he was just 13 years old in Delta State Television (DTC). As at then, comedy was not regarded  as a means to achieving livelihood and  comedians in general were not earning as expected. But, he kept his passion moving. Later, he became a member of  the Press Literary Art Drama Debating Society (PLADDS), after which he became the Programme Director. His membership of the organization was a source of strength to his comedy skills.

Currently, He’s a UN ambassador, a consummate businessman, he owns Franstel Bottle water and he is the  CEO of  Revamp Construction. Revamp is a construction company that deals in real estate, property and road construction. 

Ayodeji Richard Makun

Popularly known as  AY, he's an indigine of Ondo State. AY, is the producer of the movie ”30 Days in Atlanta” which was directed by Robert Peters. He is also a multi-award winning Nigerian actor, comedian, radio and T.V presenter, writer, director and Compere. He is the host of the AY live shows and AY comedy skits. He was made a U.N Peace Ambassador in 2009 after winning six awards in 2008. He is the C.E.O of Corporate World Entertainment Nigeria.

Bright Okpocha known by his stage name Basketmouth, was born on 14th September 1978. He is a Nigerian comedian and an actor. He has organized  comedy shows such as; popular stand-up comedy concerts like Basketmouth Uncensored across the globe 

This Lagos born comedian, completed his primary and secondary school education in Apapa, Lagos State and then moved on to pursue a degree at the University of Benin where he studied Sociology and Anthropology 

In 2005 and 2006 Basketmouth won the National Comedy Award and the awards for Best Stand-up Comedian of the Year.

Mc Sylabus in 'Atmosphere of Lafta'

Another rising star who is working hard with the vision to be a star that commands local and international recognition is MC Sylabus. MC Sylabus is a Benin City, Edo State based comedian and CEO of Sylabus Concept, who started his comedy career at a very tender age in his local church. He took his comedy talent to a Professional level through self development in 2010.
 In an interview section with Comedy+ Magazine, he revealed his major aims for choosing comedy as a career, his major challenges and long term plan.
According to MC Sylabus, he started comedy for two reasons. Firstly, he has passion for it and secondly he has a deep desire to put smile on people’s faces.

Getting to the top of the game is a task this young entertainer is working hard towards achieving by ensuring he leaves an impressive impression of himself in the heart of his audience at every given opportunity. He has to his credit a Comedy Audio CD and his own brand of show named 'Atmosphere of Lafta' with another edition coming up on Sunday, 30th August 2015 at The Eagles Embassy Hall, Benin City Edo State.
This Benin based comedian also revealed that his long term goals are to become a voice in the entertainment industry as well as build up talented young artist who are passionate in their field.

Celebrating Chigul

If you an entertainment lover, the name Chigul will not be strange to you. Chioms Omeruah popularly know as Chigul is one of Nigeria's best female comedian whose unique style of comedy is currently making waves. She is not into Comedy alone, she is also a singer but more passionate about her major career(Comedy).
She is the second of four children, she was born in Lagos,where she lived for 18years of her life, attended the Airforce Girls Miilitary School in Jos, then Airforce Secondary School in Lagos before she left for the U.S in 1994. She studied French Education at Delaware State University in Dover, Delaware. She also taught French in high school in the state for about four years and then came back to Nigeria in 2006 due to her late father’s demand.
Chiguel speaks  about five languages which include French and Spanish and she loves to make people laugh. She became a personality to be reckoned with locally and internationally when she started with a voicenote that went viral on BlackBerry. In her Chigul accent, she recorded the song titled ”Kilode”  and sent it off to friends. The song ”Kilode” brought a bigger hit song  titled, Don’t Be a Waist and performance on stage with top comedians such as Julius Agwu, Basketmouth and others. Later, she started hosting live and TV shows
In an interview section with Premium Times,  she revealed; “I didn’t decide comedy, comedy decided me, I have twelve accents. I have always done the accents, since I was a child. I’ve been very good at mimicking people, friends of my parents that come to the house that talk in funny ways; shows that I see on TV. I’m also interested in languages; I speak about five. Everywhere I go I try to immerse myself linguistically into the place, learn the accent, learn everything about the people. Sometime, there is an accent, sometimes there is none. When there is, I just think: Hey! I can do this accent very well, why not?”
She has also been featured  by some Nigerian top artist and Comedy+ wish her more successes in her endeavour.

Yemi Alade
Yemi  Eberechi Alade popularly known as Yemi Alade was born on March 13th 1989 in Abia State by an Igbo mother to a yoruba father, she is the fifth out of the seven children in her family . She is a Nigerian Afro pop singer who came into limelight after winning the reality TV show, Peak Talant Show in 2009.
Yemi Alade made her debut in a girl group named Noty Spices in 2005. Her musical discovery began after she won the Peak Talent Show in 2009. She later released her first single "Fimisile" under the Jus' Kiddin' label
In  2012, she signed to music label Effyzzie Music Group and released her single "Ghen Ghen Love". Sice then, she has been up and greatly doing well in her music career and has performed around the world, sharing the stage and songs with Mary J. Blige, Shina Peters, M.I, Wizkid, Becca, May D, Waje and Yemi Sax, headlined the Super Diva’s Nite at the 2013 Calabar Festival, and also was called upon to open the 2013 edition of the televised Headies Awards ceremony (popularly referred to as the "Nigerian Grammys") with an electrifying performance and has featured on the covers of a number of magazines .
In 2014, Alade was featured on Yung6ix’s album on the critically acclaimed track "Lights" and also on the remix of the smash hit "Sebiwo"
Just Last month, July 2015, she won the  MAMA  Award best female .

Kingsley Chinweike Okonkwo

Kingsley Chinweike Okonkwo, popularly known as Kcee was born on 18th August in Ajegunle, Lagos., he is Nigerian singerwho came into limelight after winning  the Reality TV Show, the Star Quest talent show in 2002.  He won alongside Precious John, their duo was called KC Presh until they split after 12 years together.

His song Limpopo gave him an adge in Nigerian entertainment  industry. He is known as Limpopo King 

 He is a graduate of University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) where he got a Theatre Arts degree.

After the split of KC Presh, the singer and his elder brother, Emeka Okonkwo (also known as E-money) became owners of Five Star Music.

In 2013, Kcee released his next album called 'Take over'. In the same year, he has won several awards like KORA awards, Channel O awards and Hip-hop world awards.

Kcee was made a brand ambassador for MTN as well as a peace ambassador for African First Ladies Peace Mission (AFLPM).

Michael Okechukwu Anyasodo
Michael Okechukwu Anyasod popularly known as Mike was born in Warri Delta State. He is a singer, songwriter and music producer whose style of music is a  combination of RnB, Soul and Reggae.
Mike went from singing in the corners of his room to being watched by over 5 million people on National TV every Sunday for 15 weeks and eventually becoming the winner of the popular reality TV show in Nigeria - MTN Project fame season 2.
In 2010, his debut single 'Fine Fine Lady ft illbliss' saturated the airwaves and got him 4 nominations for best new act and Best RnB in the SoundCity Music Awards and the Nigeria Music Video Awards. Mike left the show with the award for Best RnB video in a tough category with other reputable Nigerian Musicians, (Darey Art Alade, Banky W, and Ibiyemi) and Yvonne - Kenya and Addicted- South Africa.

Monica

Monica Ene Ogah, born August 7, 1990 is a Nigerian singer whose singing style ranges from R&B, pop, and soul to highlife. She is the winner of season four MTN Project Fame West Africa. On December 18, 2011, she was declared the winner, making her the second female after Chidinma to win the competition. As a prize for the victory, Ogah received a recording contract with Ultima Studios while being managed by Goretti Company.

Two years after her appearance on Project Fame, she released her debut studio album, Sometime in August, which featured collaborations with singers Wizboyy and Chidinma. Contributions to the album's production came from TY Mix, Del B, Silvastone, Wizboyy, J. Sleek and the Suspekt. 

In April 2014, Ogah released an Igbo language love song titled "Obim bu nke gi" which features Harrysongz. The music video accompanying the song was filmed in South Africa.

ALEX Ekubo

Alex Ekubo, is an actor and a model who was born on 10th day of April 1986, he is a native of Arochukwu, Abia state, he studied law at the University of Calabar after which he got a diploma in Mass Communication from Calabar Polytechnic.

Ekubo  was the first runner up of 2010 Mr Nigeria contest. 1n 2013, he won the Best Actor in a Supporting Role ward at the Best Nollywood Award  for his role in the Weekend Gateway.

What prompted you to go into Comedy?
‎My home and friends prompted me into Comedy. My home became busy as a result of friends who leave their various houses and chose to be in my house. When they are with me, I will say 'no boring or sad moment'. I was always there to cheer them up and make them feel good, this was what inspired me into becoming a comedian which I worked on. And another reason  one for going into the industry is to make a difference.
As a fast rising comedian, what are your challenges ?
My challenges so far is what almost all entertainers go through too. As an entertainer, people don't tend to believe you when you are In need of money or tangibles things. They all see you as a big celeb and you ought to have everything. Probably because of the popular face In posters and shows. No one want to know that I'm still up coming and struggling to make a way out. Another challenge so far is my in ability to speak some dialect such as Yoruba and Hausa which I'm trying to build in order to be able to reach more audience. Building more capacity I see myself as the next big international comedian in Nigeria in the next 5 years by His grace

Celebration of an icon: JOKE SILVA

Today we celebrate a prominent personality and a legend in the entertainment industry, “Joke Silva" whose performances in the movie industry has been of great courage to her fans, loved ones and well wishers.
Joke Silva, born on 29th of September 1961 is a Nigerian actress and director who has received several awards and nominations for her outstanding performances as an actress including the awards for Best Actress in a Leading Role at the 2nd Africa Movie Academy Awards in 2006, and Best Actress in a Supporting Role at the 4th Africa Movie Academy Awards in 2008.
In case you don’t know, Joke was born in Lagos, Nigeria, into a family of four children. She attended Holy Child College in Lagos, after which she studied English at the University of Lagos. She then relocated to England and studied drama at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in London.

Silva has starred in several films and television series, some of which include Secret Laughter of Women, 30 Days, Letters to a Stranger, Widow's Cot, Four Coloured Girls and the Africa Movie Academy Award-nominated films White Waters and The Amazing Grace.

She is also one of the reality TV Show, MTN Project Fame faculty member. 

She is married to one of Nollywood veteran actors, Olu Jacobs and their union is blessed with 2 children.

FOYA 2015

Entertainment, being a pleasurable activity that captivates the attention and interest of an audience as it is known today, has not been of great pleasure in the social life of the students of Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta (FUNAAB).
Recently, CHOFAB Entertainment stormed FUNAAB, captured the mind of everyone with the event “FUNAAB Outstanding Youth Award (FOYA Awards 2015), an event organised to recognise outstanding achievement in the school and across the globe, which till date has been the talk of the town indeed.
The annual ceremony features performances by established and promising artists including OLUWASEUN(MSN Gang) and ADOL(Ise Orin) and was held at Gallileo lounge, Panseke Abeokuta ogun state, hosted by Bimples & Mc Lafarsco.
