Faces we've MISSED III

They have made tremendous success in Nollywood industry and in their personal businesses. But Nigerians are beginning to ask the question,"where are our old nollywood faces?" Though still in lime light but their roles we miss on our recent home videos. This week again we bring to you two Nollywood faces we miss on our recent home videos



Nkiru Sylvanus
Nkiru Sylvanus born in Osisioma, Aba in Abia State is a sultry African actress. She had her basic education in Ohabiam Primary School and Ohabiam Secondary School in Aba. Nkiru is a Mass Communication graduate of Enugu State University of Science and Technology.

Her best role, emotional heroine got her winning the public's attention. She became famous for the role in the movie “Cry For Help” in 2000. Nkiru has been featured into the list of Nollywood films, such as “Secret Pain”, “No More Love”, ” Life Bullet”, “Final Tussle”, “Divided Heart” and “Divided Attention” and more. Nkiru Sylvanus in 2011 was appointed as Special Assistant to the Owelle Rochas Okorocha, governor of Imo State.


Chioma Chukwuka Akpotha

Chioma Chukwuka was born on March 12, 1980. She hails from Oraifite, Ekwusigo Local Government Area Anambra State, Nigeria.
She one of Nigerian actress whose movie role we always look out for.

Chioma completed her primary education at Onward Nursery and Primary School in Lagos State, and then proceeded to Federal Government Girls College in Onitsha, Anambra State for her secondary education. She then headed to Lagos State University where she studied Banking and Finance.

Her acting career began with her participation in the film The Handkerchief in 2000. In 2007 Chukwuka received the Best Actress in a Lead Role award at the African Movie Academy Awards for the movie Sins of the flesh.

Chukwuka has starred in over 80 Nollywood movies. Chioma co produced and starred in the award nominated blockbuster "On bended kneels". She was named among the 10 richest nollywood actresses by Answers Africa. Aside from acting she is also a brand ambassador to many Nigerian brands, and is also involved in charity works. She is known as the most scandal free actress!

Rising Star: Mc J'SON

Though he crept into the public psyche as a standup comedian in a dramatic way, his  endeavor and impact  will never be forgotten. Grand Comedian of Nigeria, Gbenga Adeyinka is always referred to as "1st" due to his abilities to take bold steps in achieving things no one has. He  is the first Stand-up comedian to have worked in Ghana. He has to date had the honour of anchoring the Ghana Music Award twice and performed at over 12 other shows in Ghana where his fan base is huge. Lepacious Bose rocks her new look

Her name "Lepacious Bose" has been the opposite of her body size which in return made her famous in her career. Who would have believed that Lepacious Bose has secretly been wishing to reduce her huge body weight?

For months now, she has been on a strict diet which surprisingly seems to be working for her. Recently, she celebrated by sharing her newly achieved slim figure on her instagram with a couple of pictures.

Faces we've missed II

We love and admire them, their charisma and movie role we always watchout for, even the history and list of nollywood actors and actresses will never be complete without mentioning their name.
Here are top nollywood icons we've not seen on our recent nollywoods.
Richard Mofe Damijo
Richard Mofe Damijo, fondly called RMD was born on the 6th of July year 1961in Warri, Delta State Nigeria to a family of 18, he passed through his Primary and secondary education at Anglican Grammar School where he was a devoted member of a Drama Group. He later moved on for his higher education at the University of Benin where he studied Theatre Arts.
In the year 1997, He enrolled in Law at the University of Lagos and graduated in year 2004.

His career started when he took part in a television soap opera in the late 80's called Ripples . Before then, he had a stint with Concord Newspapers and Metro Magazine as a reporter. Out of
Bounds was the first film for which he received a writer/producer credit.
Richard Mofe Damijo got married to Ellen Ezekiel who was a popular Nigerian Journalist. After Ellen's tragic death in 1996, Richard Mofe Damijo
remarried again to his now wife Jumobi.
The couple together have four children.


Stella Damasus
Stella Damasus formerly Stella Damasus Aboderin is a Nigerian actress and singer. She was born on April 24th, 1978 in Asaba, Delta state, south of Nigeria She grew up in Benin City where she completed her
primary education.
This graduate of Arts from University of Lagos, warmed herself into the hearts of
Nollywood lovers in the early 2000 when she starred in popular soap opera-Passions on the National TV network- NTA.
Stella Damasus' husband used to be Jaiye Aboderin until December 3, 2004 when Jaiye gave up the ghost while playing a basketball game. Until this incident, she was bearing Stella Damasus Aboderin and thereafter reverted back to her maiden name.

As much as we enjoy and celebrate the guys on the screen now, we will always remember some people for their contributions during their time and how much we have missed seeing them

Rising Star: Mc Shem

Ayodele Aguda, popularly known as MC Shem, is an event compere and a comedian who have carved a niche for himself in the comedy industry with his brand. 

This rib cracker whose comedy career started 3 years ago just like a lot of other acts in the intertainment industry, started in the church. He started from the drama group, often taking funny roles and later moved up to doing comedy and anchored lots of events in the church as well; it became more serious when he gained admission into the higher institution, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba to be precise.

MC Shem as a brand is a lover of people. just like the regular business; his priorities are to build client relationships, client satisfaction and mutual benefit. His style of comedy came out of the need to get his audience actively involved which has helped him to build a huge fan

According to Ayodele Aguda, his everyday activities, interactions and observation is a source of inspiration to him. His mentors; Gbenga Adeyinka who has taught him the need for observation, Alibaba who would always say, ‘it’s not mostly about what you have prepared from home, most times it is about what you can be creative with at that moment when you have the microphone in your hands and an audience in front of you.’ and others are not also left out.

MC Shem, is a Compere and an act to watch out for.

Personality of the week: OLAMIDE

Music has become the deal of the day that those who are gifted in it are known and will be known for what they do best, no matter how long it takes. Olamide Adedeji born on 15th  March 1989, is one of Nigerian artist whose gift in music is currently making way for. He is popularly known by his stage name Olamide but popularly called Olamide Baddo, he is  a Nigerian hip hop recording artist.

Olamide who was born in Bariga, Lagos State; started his career in music in early 2010. When asked why music, he said: "I found out I was gifted in it so I had to explore it, it's my life, my hustle, my world". In 2010, Olamide performed at The Hip Hop World Awards. He studied at Tai Solarin University of Education. In 2011, he released his debut studio album titled Rapsodi. Olamide's debut album, Rapsodi had the lead single "Eni Duro" which charted on several radio stations in Lagos. Olamide's debut offering led to collaborations with numerous artists, including Wizkid , ID Cabasa, 9ice , Reminisce and D'banj .
He was signed to ID Cabasa's Coded Tunes record label and was managed by Toni Payne.  In 2012, he left Coded Tunes and started his own record label YBNL. Olamide's second studio album, YBNL, was released in November 2012. The album's production was handled by Tyrone, Samklef, 2Kriss, Pheelz and ID Cabasa. It features guest appearances from Davido, Tiwa Savage, Kayswitch, Dammy Krane, Reminisce, Samklef, Buckwylla, Minus 2 and Base One. The album was supported by the singles "Ilefo Illuminati". Being a goal getter,  he has earn several award including multiple Nigeria Entertainment Awards and The Headies Awards . In 17 July 2013, Olamide became the first Nigerian to sign an endorsement deal with CĂ®roc . On 24 October 2013, he signed a multi-million Naira deal with Guinness. In November 2013, he became an ambassador for Etisalat alongside Ice Prince and he's presently doing well for himself with chart topping singles and videos to his credit.

Faces we've missed I

Nollywoood, being Africa’s largest movie industry has seen and recorded a huge number of talented people as Nollywood actors and actresses.  These few, though not out of lime light,  but we might just say have gone out of circulation in the make- believe industry as they hardly feature in movies of late and we've all really missed seeing them on our screen.

 Genevieve Nnaji:
Genevieve got it all, her fashion sense is highly rated in the industry. She knows how to combine her outfits from head to toe. She started as an unknown actress, but today, she has become one of the most celebrated thespians in Africa.
Just in October 2014, She relaunched her fashion label, St. Genevieve.


Rita Dominic
Some says she is a fashion diva while others refers to her as sophisticted Rita but the truth is, the list of nollywood most fahionable actresses will never be complete without the name "Rita Dominic". she is one of the most stylish Nollywood actress.
Her red carpet outfits either at movie premieres, award shows or concerts always give her an outstanding look.

As much as we enjoy the faces we are seeing now, the truth is we really miss these faces. Watch out for more next week

Oldies: Babatunde Omidina 'Baba Suwe'

When we talk about entertainment Oldies, Babatunde Omidina popularly know as Baba Suwe is one of Nigerian comic actor whose impact has been felt in the industry. Babatunde Omidina is a Nigerian actor, producer and comedian who majors in Yoruba movies. He was born on the 22nd of  August 1958 in Lagos Island where he grew up but hails from Ikorodu local government area of Lagos State, southwestern Nigeria. Baba Suwe's acting career began acting In 1972 but came into limelight after he featured in a movie titled 'Omolasan', a film produced by Obalende.  He became more popular after he featured in 'Iru Esin', produced by Olaiya Igwe in 1997.
He has crossed several hurdles and challenges and yet come out strong to remain on top of his game. From drug issues with NDLEA to the loss of his wife Omoladun; murder accusation from her daughter and also the loss of his lawyer Bamidele Aturu; yet he has come out tall to remain the most preferred Yoruba comic actor.
Babatunde has featured and produced several Nigerian movies such as Baba Jaiye jaiye, a movie that featured Funke Akindele and Femi Adebayo, the son of the veteran actor Adebayo Salami.
